Summer has arrived!

This weekend has been beautiful and perfect! It seems as though our weather has finally decided to turn into Summer, YEA! We were outside nearly all day everyday this weekend and Grant and I got a headstart earlier in the week since we finally had some sunshine.

Grant and Daddy playing, playing, playing in the sandbox
He insists on being barefoot so, we have had to pull a number of slivers out, not pretty

Grant got to play with his buddy Rossi today and even shared his swing ;)
Yes, that is my pregnant belly and Grant LOVES to rub our bellies together...I'll admit I think it's pretty cute too

He loves to bounce, climb, and play on his Daddy...and I love it too because that means he's not doing it to me right now!

going on a treasure hunt

This may seem rather insignificant to some but if you are a parent that has a child with an attachment "lovey" then you will be able to appreciate this treasure hunt!

Grant has "dog-dog" and it is his #1. He must have dog-dog when he goes to bed at night, for naptime, when we travel...or just go to the grocery store. He would go absolutely everywhere with him if we let him, like into the bathtub or swimming pool. Thankfully dog-dog is completely washable and has only had a few stitches in his lifetime and cleans up really well, though we have to sneak him into the washer and dryer every few days when Grant isn't looking.

All of this is to say, I have been on a bit of a treasure hunt looking for a back-up dog-dog just in case of emegency, and his is getting pretty dingy! There have a been a few instances where dog-dog went missing and it was a bit of a fire drill trying to locate him.

Well, before dog-dog became #1 (probably 9-12 months ago) I was strolling through Goodwill and found one exactly like him (tags were even still on) and I thought, EWWW a stuffed animal at Goodwill, AND it was $4.99?!! I remembered seeing similar type stuffed animals brand new in stores for $7.99 so I quickly walked past so Grant wouldn't see it and want to play.

Of course, months later I'm kicking myself for not having bought it. After dog-dog became such an attachment and I started my quest to find a back-up I realized it is Ty Pluffies brand and his particular dog is from 2002 and since been "retired," aka a collector's item and they charge an arm and a leg for them on eBay, new or used! Once I had finally figured out what I was looking for and found them for $20-$50 a piece on eBay I about had cardiac arrest and decided to continue my search at Goodwill.

Today was THE DAY!!

My persistence has finally paid off, not only did I find one but TWO and they were $.99 a piece, I couldn't pass them up! Grant about jumped out of the shopping cart when he saw them both, he kept saying two dog-dog, two dog-dog and was absolutely tickled to have them. You can see in the picture (2 on the right) they are in mint condition and after a few times through the washing machine this afternoon I feel better about where they came from! Who knows, one may even find it's way onto eBay...the kid doesn't really need 3, right?!

After all of those ramblings I will leave you with #27 of the 31 Biblical Virtues to pray for your kids.
Passion for God. "Lord, please instill in my children a soul that 'followeth hard after thee' (Ps. 63:8, KJV), one that clings passionately to you."

Sweet Dreams!

Happy Father's Day Daddy and Grandpas!

Grant and Daddy found a worm in the garden this weekend, only one touch for Grant and he had had enough, ha!

Here he is painting a masterpiece for a Father's Day gift and I must note that he painted the entire thing with his left hand?!
This is an old picture but still one of my favorites of Grant with his Daddy and Grandpa R!
Grandpa O was a good sport and stuck his big toe in the water feature with Grant last week, ha!
Happy Father's Day, we love you Daddy and Grandpas!

sunshine

I am proud to say that I love heat and, yes, even a little humidity, a true Midwest girl I suppose. I detest the Spring we have had this year, if you can even call it Spring. The rainfall for the month of June has never been as high in recorded history for our state, lovely!! Rain or shine Grant wakes up each morning and demands to go, "outshide," and we typically do regardless of the precipitation for the day, I love that little boy! We did have a nice dose of warm temps and humidity with Grandpa and Grandma O last week and oh boy did we play and get spoiled!

A few highlights, in no particular order, included golf cart, tractor and mower rides, a trip to the local John Deere implement for a few toys and souvenirs, lots of catching-up with family and friends, swimming, sidewalk chalk, puddle jumping, walks to multiple parks, swinging, tricycle riding, playing golf in the front yard, card playing, the list goes on and on and on and on!

Four generations
Great-Grandma Sophia with little man
Uncle Mark, Grandpa O & Grant
Grant had a blast with all of his little friends!
Max, Grant, Caleb, Maggie, Jacob & Jonathan
Oh Boy was this giant tractor a blast!
On the riding lawn mower with Glen...it was a bit loud and fast for Grant's liking!
He loved the waterfall feature and turtle slide at the swimming pool
Puddle playing with his buddies Caleb, Jonathan and Jacob
Sidewalk chalk with Grandma O
Fun at the park with his buddies...this was the best picture of the four of them, can you say "busy?!"
I know Grant misses his Grandpa and Grandma O but he also misses the golf cart a lot!! ;)

today

This has never happened before so I took a quick picture to capture the moment...and then of course he was up and running again. We rarely even have the tv on in the house but there are these "special" times when Mommy needs a minute or two so I try to coax him into watching something on tv. It has never worked before until this morning for about 5 whole minutes, ha!

Grant always wants to go for a walk...meaning with NO stroller but this is usually what happens, he needs a lift from Daddy so we can finally make it home! I love you boys! xoxo

Oh No!!!

While at Grandpa & Grandma R's this weekend Grant managed to climb out of the pack 'n play he was suppose to be taking a nap in...arghhh!! This caused us to wonder how long it would be until he attempted the same in his crib, only 3 days later and we now have our answer. Today he woke up from his nap and somehow managed to get out of his crib and come walking out of his room to announce his accomplishment..."bed, out, Daddy!" Frank seemed to be a bit proud of his son while I continue to be in denial!

Mud Puddles

Grant had a blast over the weekend celebrating his cousin Jake's 4th birthday. They played for a LONG time in 2 mud puddles in Grandpa & Grandma R's driveway and couldn't have been happier!

One of Jake's birthday presents was this crazy blow-up ball the kids could roll around in, too funny!
