weekend

We've had a wonderful weekend of sunshine and time spent in our yard. Grant "helped" Frank & I do yard work most of this weekend and took a time out from his water table yesterday to play in the sprinkler! He got close enough to get sprayed but that was it this time.

Zoo

Grant thoroughly enjoyed his first trip to the zoo this week with his 3 cousins! One highlight was seeing the zoo keepers feed the penguins, Grant shook with delight!
Seeing how they all measured up compared to the polar bears on exhibit!

Everyone was ready for the bathtub once we got home so before the cousins hit the road everyone jumped in our tub!

Happy Father's Day Daddy

We spent a wonderful weekend, this past weekend, with Frank's family and were able to steal a bit of Daddy Frank's time on Sunday so Grant could pick and eat one of his first fresh strawberries from Great Grandma's strawberry patch. Poor Daddy spent most of his day working hard splitting fire wood which we are so happy to have come winter!
We love you Daddy!

He LOVED the strawberries and his white t-shirt with big red spots was proof when he was finished!

alone

Grant was playing so nicely by himself yesterday evening while I was cooking dinner. I would peak around the corner to check on him every so often and this is what I eventually found the little turkey doing. When things get a little too quiet I know he's usually up to no good!

This was from earlier in the week and might I add not his first offense at this crime.

garden

As hard as it is to believe, we are growing...or trying to grow a garden this year! Per a few requests, here is a photo so you can fully appreciate our efforts :) So far the weeds are winning!

summer fun

The last "free" day of our trip home was beautiful and we took full advantage of it, golf in the morning, pool & picnic in the afternoon!

prisoner walk

It was brought to my attention, by my great friend Sarah, that I needed to blog/document the way our little boy walks around these days. In-fact, it's almost too late because he's walking more and more everyday with his arms at his sides but this morning I caught a quick picture in our backyard so everyone can see what all the excitement is about, ha!

Frank & I have always thought it was perfectly normal and for balance reasons that our little guy walked with his arms above his head. Come to find out, not everyone starts out that way ;) While visiting with everyone last week we found out how tickled people were to see him walk this way and were looking forward to seeing him everyday with his hands above his head! Sarah, this one is for you!

Iowa

Well, we managed to surprise Grandpa O by flying to Iowa on his birthday, May 27! He was speechless when he walked into the garage and saw us all piling out of the van, ha!! This was the start to a wonderful and relaxing week and a half with family and many friends.

Grandma and Grant reading, reading, reading!

Grant decided he wanted to learn how to play golf ;)

Our dear family friends, Guilds, Iversons & Liens

There are more photos to post but will have to wait until tomorrow. We can't thank you all enough for traveling to see us while we were home, it wouldn't have been the same without you. We treasure the moments we are able to spend together and makes it so hard to leave but trust we will see you all again soon...with snow on the ground ;) We love you and thank God for your friendship and love.

Blessings~ Abby

ears

First, in the midst of Grant's ear infections I didn't report his one year stats, 18 lbs 8 oz and 30 in in length! Still long and lean, a chip off the old block :)

Ever since our return from California we've had a battle with Grant's ears. Much has happened since his first double ear infection was diagnosed the day after his first birthday, he was then given a clean bill of health at his "re-check" appointment a week and a half later. It was during this appointment he was given his one year shots as well.

A couple of days later, Memorial Day, he was under the weather again so one more trip to urgent care we discovered the ear infections were back. This time they tried stronger antibiotics only to have him throw it all up that night so, the next day we were back at the pediatrician for different drugs, ear drops and some crazy antibiotic shots to get him over the hump to recovery for our flights the very next day to Iowa!!

Praise God he flew like a champ and seems to be 100% healed, the doc will hopefully confirm our own diagnosis at tomorrow's appointment! Hopefully there will be nothing else to report...other than maybe he's gained some weight so we'll be able to turn his car seat around one of these days! Ha!

Iowa photos & fun to come....
Xoxo,
Abby
