weekend on the farm

The cousins got to each select a pumpkin (or 2 or 3) from Grandpa's garden this month!  They drew numbers, Parker got number 1, Grant was number 5, thankfully they are young enough to not care at all and just enjoyed the pumpkin picking experience with their cousins.

Grant doing some work in the garden ;+)

Francesca was feeding peas to Parker, they just plopped down in the middle of the garden, so adorable!

Daddy Frank got put to work in the barn for a bit too!

park

Since preschool is m/w/f we have been taking a music class and swimming lessons on t/th.  While the weather permitted we enjoyed the park many afternoons post-swimming.

I love what catches their eyes...dandelions!

kite flying 101

Grant has been waiting and waiting for a windy day, this Fall, to fly his first kite.  This was the perfect day, back in September, still warm but breezy enough that he didn't have to use much string to get it in the air!  You can see the delight and amusement on his face, love that child!

my lil pickers

We visited an apple orchard, this afternoon, to hand pick a few Honey Crisp apples, yum, yum!  Parker was decently cooperative and sat for me long enough to get a few shots, sans smile, in this ancient wagon.  I'll take what I can get and fell in love with this regardless of the "interesting" facial expression, love you Bear!

All five of our little pickers today, Andrew, Caroline, Kayley, Grant and Parker

Parker grabbed this wagon from the very beginning and drug it along with us the entire time!

He kept getting frustrated because the apples were a bit too large for him to really sink his teeth into!

Grant and his lady friends ;+)

Playing with more effects and loving this look with little Andrew

Parker and I led the way, the others were too busy bickering over this wagon and that wagon, who was riding in the wagons, who was pulling the wagon, who was hot, who was really, really hot and on and on and on

This also meant Parker was captured by my lens a LOT more than the others!
Happy Fall Y'all!

preschool

preschool Day 1

Last Monday kicked off Grant's first day of preschool!  Half of his class went the first hour and the second half attended the second hour, we were in the latter class.  He was sooooo anxious all morning and kept asking over and over again if it was time to go to school yet, why we had to wait so long and why he didn't get to bring a snack this time.  When I came down the hallway, that morning, he was already getting himself in his "school clothes!"  I was thrilled, he never does this and in-fact it's usually a challenge to get him out of his pj's.

Once we arrived at school he was hiding just a bit behind my legs being unusually shy but very quickly found his name on the table and started the routine of getting checked in, hands washed, etc.  His best bud, and neighbor, Jack quickly arrived which made everything that much better!

I'll also admit to taking these few photos the day before school started so we didn't have to rush around here the morning of.  I also incorrectly thought we would be in the clear on what to wear the following morning and of course, Grant wanted to wear something else!  Pick your battles, right?  So, you will see in the photos toward the bottom that he chose his "soft pants" (fleece pants he LOVES), his guitar shirt and was having a problem with his socks so chose one brown and one white, sweet!

His class is Mon/Wed/Fri mornings but on Tuesday morning he was again up and getting his "school clothes" on; he was thoroughly disappointed to find out he wasn't going to school that day!  He also wanted to bring something for show and tell each day but his assigned day is Monday so, that has taken a LOT of explanation but I think he's finally got it figured out, we'll see how this week goes!

Wednesday was his first full day and he did GREAT!  He is loving school and tells me his favorite part is the marble game (pictured below).

Climbing during recess with Jack.

Already on "play" laptops, heaven help us!

Way to go Grant, you are already doing so great, we love you Bud!

buns

Quote of the Day:

Grant: "Mom, sometimes my buns stick together." After walking out to show me after he used the toilet.

About one minute later...

Grant: "It won't let my toots out."
