today

Today my parents have flown back home and we are left with a very tired 1 year old. Grant adores his Grandpa and Grandma O and once they leave we have learned to accept we will have a rather crabby boy for a couple of days adjusting back to life without always having someone's full attention! It is usually a rather long 2 day transition for me but somehow we always manage to bounce back into our routine. And let's be honest, Grant is usually a pretty happy guy and crabby is not a word that would be used to describe him.

Yesterday was spent visiting the zoo

As I sit here now I am again feeling like the days/weeks/months are disappearing and summer will be over before we know it. I feel a strong urge to quickly jot a few things down that Grant has been doing lately so, here it goes...

+He's now up to 7 teeth...I think he's trying for a full mouth by the time our sweet corn is ready next month :)

+"oeoeoeoeoe" said really fast and all smooshed together and that's what it sounds like he's saying, he did this for a couple days straight and now it's gone, of course, no luck getting it on the video camera

+in and out of his sandbox, in and out of his sandbox, in and out of his sandbox...I'm jealous of all of the calories he must be burning

+we get on all fours and creep toward Grant and he tries to "run" away and always falls down and is laughing so hard he can't stand back up, it's like his tires are spinning, absolutely hilarious

+teeeez....to say "cheese" which he started saying around his 1st birthday, the kid would eat an entire package of string cheese from Costco if we'd let him

+G is eating a lot of "human" food as Grandpa O would call it, we're not sure what he weighs these days but he's filling out and feels more sturdy...and, yes, we finally turned his car seats around

+little mime: Grant points his index finger to the sky if you ask him how old he is and you put one finger in the air too; same with sticking out your tongue, shrugging your shoulders, tipping your head from side to side

+he has a puppy that sings songs and plays music so Grant will push a button to make it go to his favorite song and gets mad (grunts and makes noise at it) when it take a few pushes to get there

+we were at the rose garden last week and he called a squirrel "doggie." Guess our little genius is a little mixed up about what the word "doggie" includes :)

+daddy is said a LOT; he will also say mama but not nearly as often and takes some prompting

+he loves his swing, sandbox & water table in the backyard and could probably play with them for the rest of the summer and be perfectly content without anything else

+Grant knows when we have the video camera out and does NOT like to "perform" for us

+Mondays I take him to a music class he's enrolled in for the summer, his favorites include the maple sticks & the sticks with bells on the ends of them; he's also learned to turn around and back-up to sit in my lap on the floor, it's adorable & I love it

+at story hour, at the library, his hands down favorites are the puppets, he gets so excited to see them mysteriously appear out of the librarians bag. He follows her around the room as she walks with them on her hands, it's quite funny.

As I'm typing I hear our litle boy stirring in his crib, nap time has officially ended so I must sign-off. My goal is to get a video or two uploaded soon...we'll see if I'm successful!
Love,
Abby
