We had a wonderful trip to California to see Frank's Grandparents this past week. Grant got to meet his Great-Granddad and Great-Grandmother for the first time and we celebrated 2 birthdays! First was Great-Granddad's 89th Birthday on cinco de mayo and then we celebrated a little early for Grant's first birthday with everyone.
Among the birthday parties we were able to enjoy a day at Disneyland, walks along the beach, playing in the sand, visiting with my dear friend Kate and her handsome little guy Daniel, and many hours out on the deck watching the ocean waves crash....ohhhh to live on the beach?!! We were able to relax and absorb some much needed vitamin D that we're missing here at home this time of year!
Grant was a champ and traveled well, however, since our arrival home he's gotten sick and is miserable! Yesterday we enjoyed a few special treats for Grant's first birthday and celebrating Mother's Day together, just the three of us. Last night, unfortunately, Grant suddenly became unconsolable and was up most of the night. Our trip to the pediatrician this afternoon proved he has a horrible double ear infection...the antibiotics are just being started....sigh! Tomorrow afternoon is his scheduled "one year" appointment so I'm sure we'll have an update on how he's doing after that.

SO sorry the boy has been sick.. no fun!! Hope his appt goes okay, too.. don't be surprised if they make you bring him back for shots since he is on abx..
